Ducklings don't need to eat for the first 24-48 hours because they're still absorbing nutrients from the yolk. Layer pellets will do in a pinch if you still can't get out, but you'd want to pound them very thoroughly since ducklings can choke on full-size pellets. Since layer feed also doesn't have the correct nutrients for ducklings, you'll want to switch them to starter crumbles as soon as you can get to a store to get them.
