you can cut back on the super (%) in the saline if you are worried, but the action of squirting the wound with the dish detergent bottle will help get rid of the yellow stringy staph that lingers around wounds like that. The article stated it acted as a germicide (used the word germinal), really if you can afford it, chlorhexidine in the form of Nolvasan solution is probably pretty good. What I don't like is it has a soapy residue to it. I was just amazed at the power of something that cost me pennys.
I can't see how it would poison the chicken(iodine solution might kill the hen...), whatever, it was an idea to keep the area moist to promote healing and help reduce the bacteria. I still think it is a really good idea.
