Hello everyone!

Last year I drifted into the wonderful world of chickens via the desire to raise guinea fowls. I learned a lot last year...After much pleading with my wife I was given the blessing to raise 6 guineas after I explained all the benefits. I also convinced her to let me raise 6 chickens along side the guineas. I slapped together a coop, and went on a crash course with disaster. I quickly learned that my dog and guineas were not a good combination... I lost about 3 guineas.

Secondly I learned that my slapped together coop was build too close to the woods and lost the other 3 guineas to racoons. Then after fixing the coop to be impregnable I awoke fathers day 2012 to find all but 2 of my chickens murdered by racoons

....It was a heart breaking event. I took the remaining chickens to my sisters house and decided to do more research. I found THIS community and have learned a lot, I am happy to say that today my flock of 9 chickens have moved into a new, secure, warm, happy coop, and it was all the research I did HERE that made all the world of difference. Thank you to everyone!
