2nd duck breed........ what would you choose?

I loved my cayugas, they layed beautiful green eggs, and lots of them. What about magpies? I've heard they're great layers too. A friend has saxonies, and she says they outlay her runners, and they have huge eggs! (of course they're huge ducks, and probably eat a lot).

I'm really leaning towards the cayugas. mainly for the color and their egg color, it's eye appealing.

I have mostly EE chickens, due to the range in colors on the birds and the eggs, so , the Cayuga is quite appealing to me.

I have Saxonies and their egg are not that large. They are like extra large chicken eggs. It also depends on what you feed them. A diet high in protein is linked to larger eggs and even double yolkers. I keep mine on 17% plus they free range too. My ducks eggs are very consistent in size. I had one crazy one quarter sized egg without yolk for halloween, but that was it. Nothing overly large in size. Saxonies are very calm in nature, runners tend to be on the nervous side. Their size and calmness allows them to be with my 4 hunting dogs, and the dogs show no interest in them at all.
