Is 2" x 2" a safe size to use for the run? It's all I can find around here and I can't order smaller online, the shipping is out of this world. Would a raccoon be able to grab through it?

yeah, definitely a raccoon could get an hand through that. Also, rats and weasels could squeeze through there too.

No Home Depots near you huh?

My Home Depot doesn't have anything but 4"x2" and some garden fencing. No, I didn't want to lock them up at night. I guess I'll do the run with the 2x2 and try to find something small for the lower 2 ft. of run. Why is it so hard to find this stuff?? I tried Lowes (which does have the 2x2), Home Depot, Tractor Supply, Agway...no one has 1/2" or 1" in anything more than 24" wide.

Do you think your Home Depot could order it for you? Mine carried the 1/2 inch in rolls up to 48" wide.

Honestly, I can't recall..but I think it was around $10 per roll? How much do you need? Is your run really big? If so, you could probably get away with just putting a roll around the bottom of the run and using regular chicken wire for the rest?

50 foot rolls of 5' tall 2" chicken wire is like 20 bucks out here!

For an outside run, the 2x2 will work IF you line it with chicken wire. The cloth will prevent tear thoughs, and the chicken wire will prevent snatch and grabs. Some of the smaller coons can get their hands though the bars on a hav a heart trap which are about 1"x1"

Do you have weasals in your area? If so, best to lock them up in their coop every night. Luckily, none here.

That all said, I have 1" chicken wire from the 50's that I used for all my coops, and have only had one tear though when the bottom wires rusted out and I didn't notice the gaping hole.

Oh, and animals can climb, so you'll have to have a secure top on it too if you don't lock them up at night... best lock them up at night.

Wow, the wire I found online was about $90 for a 50ft roll, plus shipping. If anyone has a link for cheaper, can you please post it?

The 2"x2" x48" wide 50ft roll at Lowes is $44. I just called a different Home Depot and they have 1/2"x1/2" x48" wide and 25ft long roll for $40. 50ft would be $80.

My run is going to be 8x12, so I need about 100ft of 4ft wide wire. Can someone PLEASE post links for cheaper stuff?? I've been searching the internet for 3 days and coming up with nothing helpful whatsoever.
