We have a barred Plymouth Rock chick that we’ve had for 17 days (I’m assuming she was about a week old when we got her from Orshelns). She has always breathed heavier and fallen asleep more easily than the others we got at the same time. Any idea what can cause her to breathe so heavily? And is there anything I can giver her to help?
She eats, jumps, runs around etc. Breathes heavily while under the light or not. Is it just something she may outgrow since she’s 3-4 weeks old now?
She eats medicated starter food and has been this way since we got her. Poop is fine. I thought it was just because she was new/scared at first. This is our first time with chicks do I don’t know what I’m doing 😬

Welcome To BYC

If she's active/eating/drinking/etc. then I'm not sure if there's a lot you can do.
Thank you for answering! She does act just like the others her age except the respiration rate and she tends to fall asleep when picked up (which is why she’s me daughter’s favorite ☹😣).
Do you think this means certain death one of these days or is it possible she will survive? I’d guess her respiration rate is 2-3 times that of the others. She’s been like this since we got her 18 days ago and it hasn’t gotten worse.

I don't know if it would shorten her lifepan or not.

Do one more thing, feel around her body, under her wings, around the abdomen - just to make sure - feel for anything that is like an air bubble or pocket under the skin. It would be like a soft swelling, you would be able to feel it by just running your hands gently along her body.

I'm sorry, I don't know the amount of ACV to add to water, I've never used it.
