3-4 Week (Possibly 5-6) Old Leghorn, Roo?

With that comb, that young, I'd wager you've got a little cockerel. My leghorn hens have big combs, but they didn't get big til just before they started laying.

Mine had huge floppy combs before they started laying. Don't do anything drastic until you are positive. Wait for rooster tail feathers and give them a chance to start laying. I'll look for a picture of mine before they started laying.

This is one of my leghorn pullets at two months old, for you to compare to yours...

hi mate just a tip for you to id if its a cockerel or pullet, take a hold of the bird and look at the back of the neck the feathers there on a cockerel are called the hackle feathers they grown to a point > and on the pullet they they are rounded off ) that's one way of telling male to female and the cockerel tail feathers will start growing a few that are slightly longer in length they start to curve and roll over pointing to the ground, as many have said the pullet has a floppy comb and the cockerel has a upright comb its 2 young at the moment to tell I would wait and see how the feathers and comb progress good luck.

That chicken MUST be older than you think it is. I was sure mine were roosters about two months before they started laying. They had big floppy combs and waddles- the whole shebang. I was freaking because I can't have roosters in town! From the look of your chicken, give it a month or two and it will either have rooster tail feathers or start laying. Good luck and keep us posted! MM
