3/4hp motor For Wizbang plucker project.

1/4 aluminum plate. I bought from a fab shop and had them cut to size and I layed out and drilled the holes. I used a plastic 55 gal drum for the tub.

I got mine from Harbor Freight. I didn't get a sealed, farm duty one, like he recommended, but it was a fraction of the cost, and I've been using it without a problem for about two years and hundreds of birds. I just covered it with a bucket and it stays dry.

how much did the 1/4" plate cost you I am abit afraid to hear the answer to that one honestly.

we end up paying $2.50 per lbs for aluminum so depending on how thick you get it plus the fab work of cutting into a circle, drill and centering for a drive shaft your close to $100.

i used 1/8" AL plate on mine and its plenty strong.

I used a template to mark the centers of all my holes and the center of the feather plate.

Then drilled and tapped a 10/24 hole in the center of my drive shaft on the lathe. drilled a hole in the center of my plate for a 10/24 machine screw. Welded the sq plate on my shaft, unconcerned about being centered, because when screwed the drive shaft to the plate via the centering hole the feather plate, the shaft and plate would be concentric.

Then just flip it over and transfer the holes from the sq drive plate to the feather plate.
