I agree pullet! That was the same picture I was going to post! LOLI agree, pullet. Though I wasn't able to make out her saddle feathers or zoom in on the last pic. Black Australorp often have pullets looking mature early.

Different genetics... some mature earlier than others. They possibly don't even have the same parents if they came from hatchery.Her wattles, comb and earlobes look redder and her wattles are way bigger than her sisters (also a black australorp). Why might that be?

PulletHello! I have a 3.5 month old black australorp named Banana Slug. Her wattles are much bigger than our other black australorps which make us question if she is really a pullet. We are really hoping she is...Does anyone have guesses on her gender? Thanks!

Looks like she is getting ready to lay eggs. There combs and wattles get really red as they mature right before they start to lay eggs.Her wattles, comb and earlobes look redder and her wattles are way bigger than her sisters (also a black australorp). Why might that be?
