They make some noise in the morning, but think it's just cause they are excited to free range

How can you tell she has bad eyesight.? :O

Walks slow, high stepping, takes a half dozen shots at a worm before she gets it, eyes don't react when you shine a light in them. But she can find the bottom perch, her food and water, so she should be alright.

Do you mind me asking what breed the one on the far right of the picture is? I've got the same and can't figure out what she is lol

Beautiful chickens.! I really want an all black chicken now lol.!
I have been thinking the same they really are stunning. Plus a bird of prey can confuse them with ravens and stay away. I also have 2 black cats so a black chicken just sounds right

It's interesting seeing what people gravitate towards. My SO and I gravitate towards gold and black. I know someone who's flock is dominated by white and black. Another acquaintance loves white splashes with yellow legs, or anything solidly red that isn't a RIR. Looking online, people with breeding projects often stick to either a breed, or breeds that follow their aesthetic ideals which often also trace to breeds.

But the iridescent breeding projects that I ran across-- that blew my mind because it's not about breed. There are breeds that are irridiscent, but it's about cross-breeding for one aesthetic standout. The person who talks about their breeding project must have the most boring looking flock in the evening, but in the daylight? Holy cow.

We have two all blacks. One has some green irridiscent all over. Nice but not that strong. But we have an all black one who throws full body purple iridiscence that is so cool.

This doesn't do it justice because it's artificial lighting, plus her back is so detailed with different purples in the sun. But you can see where the iridescence affects the feathers.
