Oliver egger chick, shipped as 'day old chick' on June 24, so she's 3.5 - 4 weeks old. She comes from My Pet Chicken (MPC), which says they "crossed Legbars by Marans for one variety, and Ameraucanas by Marans for another variety" of Olive Eggers. Judging by this chick's slate legs, pea-ish comb, and tiny cheek puffs, as well as the cuckoo feathering, seems pretty clear that the is an Ameraucana x Cuckoo Marans mix. But of course, I don't know of those breeds which was the roo and which was the hen that resulted in this chick.
Any strong opinions on whether she's a she (pullet) or really a he (cockerel)? The comb is definitely larger than my Easter Egger that came in the same shipment (side-by-side in the 4th photo)--but maybe it makes sense that it might be a little bigger even on a pullet because of the genetic influence of the Marans single comb...sometimes I wonder if it looks a little pink, but then I think her whole beak is very light pink, so maybe it's not necessarily cockerel coloring coming through...
Anyway, understandably, it's most likely too early to know. But I'm wondering if anyone is familiar with the MPC Olive Eggers and has any clues to offer. Thanks!
