A raccoon could easily go up and over that fence and haul a chicken back over, going under that tarp. In my opinion, raccoons are the most difficult predators to deal with. They're smart and will spend hours trying to figure out how to get what they want.

I'll add another predator to the mix. Fox. Fox are expert climbers, will snatch and run and keep returning. It's nothing for a fox to climb over a 6 foot or taller fence and climb back out with a full-size chicken in its mouth. Fox are my worse predators. Luckily I've never lost a chicken to a raccoon or opossum, however, I lost 9 in one day before I knew what it was I was dealing with. The only way I'm able to keep my chickens and turkeys safe from the fox is electrified fencing. Best of luck.

I get almost all mine from estate sales, its so much cheaper that way!
