3 day old chick pecking its own feet and blood

Have a3 day old chick in with 17 others. The one chick want to just peck own foot and has now drawn blood. Put more stuff in brooder to keep it occupied and in 2 min back at its foot... What to do to stop it from making bad sore and then other chicks picking on it?

Going to try some more shavings to make it deeper and see if that blends feet in more to the bedding.

Its a copper marans chick with feather on feet. The chick pecked the feathers and the blood is coming from the feather root. Finally have it napping in the brooder and leaving itself alone for now.

Maybe try lightly wrapping it

It would seem to me that the other chicks are picking it's feathers, and it is simply eating the blood... I would try and separate with a submissive freind.

Chicks will out grow that by a week old. They view anything as feed till they learn. You can try a blob of Vaseline on the foot because generally birds do not like it.

Did separate it for an hour to let blood dry and cleaned off area. Put more bedding in when I put the chick back and so far so good. Time to move to a bigger brooder with more stuff to keep them occupied.
