Need a little help here. Today we picked up a few chicks that just arrived from the hatchery on Wed.

One of the Lt Brahma chicks is continually picking at herself under her right wing. When I looked under her wing it looks like a wound that needs attention. Rather gross, blackish (dried blood?) sticky and very smelly.

I feel like I should wash that area off and apply some sort of antibiotic ointment.

Suggestions anyone? Is this fairly common in new chicks

I have not had that happen. I would neosporin it and maybe somehow wrap gauze around her itty bitty body so she can't get under that wing for a couple of days?
I wonder how she got injured? Did you look for mites? Seems young, but you never know!!

Thanks for your suggestions.

Have you ever used Blue Coat?
We purchased some just to have on hand but I have never used it. Just wondering if that would help?
