3 day old chicks peck at me when called

I'm not really sure how to explain this well, but I have some chicks that hatched around Wednesday/Thursday. I want to keep them as pets, so I've been handling them often and talking to them. Two of them in particular like me more than the others do. When I take these two out to play with them, they come towards me when I make a peep sound. I noticed that when they come they seem to be looking around at my face for something, and they will peck at my glasses/cheeks/chin, but not aggressively, almost like they're checking what it is. Does anyone know why they only seem to do this when I call them?

Yea, I thought that might be it too lol which makes me feel bad because I feel like I should be giving them something tasty

They explore with their beaks, so anything that catches their eye, like shiny things or anything that stands out from a surface like a freckle, a speck of dirt, they'll try to taste it.
