3 day old duckling drips water from nose but behaves normal?

I have a runt hatchling from the local hatchery. He was alot smaller than the others was sticky and still had shell stuck to him when i picked him up from the hatchery im assuming he had a hard or late to hatch type thing he has gotten stronger eats and drink and chirps but has water drip from his nose the other duck and goose do not have this, I cant help but worry? Is he ok?

Does this happen all the time. They drink so much water is can normally drip out of their nares hope this is all it is. You can also add some Poultry Nutri Drench to their drinking water to give the lil one an extra boost it will be good for all of them.

Thank you im hoping its just drink dribble also he has no sneeze and breathes clear and eyes look bright im definitely going to add vitamins, the gosling has started mothering him im hoping that also helps

I 'm sure having another bird showing an interest will help. That is very sweet of the goslings. Now of course we need pics of them all.

be careful do not touch it you can get infected and that is not a good sign in a duckling it can be a sign of salmonella or respiratory infection make sure to wash everything this duckling touches. is your duckling poo green and watery and does it have a loss of balance if so it probably has salmonella. it might also be allergies ducks tend to have runny noses and sneeze when its allergic to pollen and some types of flowers so try moving the duckling and see if it stops. if not go get some medicine from a freed store and make sure to follow the instructions to the dot. or take it to a vet hope your duckling gets better!

He is not wobbly and poops the same color and consistancy as the others. I am not handling him currently and just watching him close i find it odd the others are not dripping.

then he probably does no have salmonella is it drinking a lot? i had a chicken do this and i just watched her closely and separated her and didn't give her that much water and she was fine! sometimes they get thirsty like us and drink a lot and it will come out either their noses or their mouths

I would say it’s gorging itself and water is coming back up. It will learn soon how much to eat and drink. As long as it’s acting normal, even though it’s little it should be fine. I would just guess it’s a female because of the size.

I have been watching him closely and he is doing well it seems like the watery nose is happening mostly when he has to be handled for brooder cleaning or whatever i sat and watched for awhile this morning and he has caught up well to the other duck and is very active, i probably over reacted but i dont want something to happen to him.

I almost asked you if it was happening when he was handled. When you pick it up, be careful not to touch it’s “chest”. When it’s full of water or food and you push on the “chest” or crop, it forces the water and food back up. So essentially it’s getting forced to throw the water back up. I’ve done it numerous times. And now I try to be careful now that I know.
