Yes, be careful picking them up because they can also aspirate that way..

Maybe i shouldnt handle him, when is an appropriate age to hold them? I would like to bond with them but dont want to hurt them or make them sick. The gosling is alot bigger and thrives on human contact but the ducklings are alot smaller than i was expecting, bringing something home the day it hatches is alot of pressure i almost feel guilty that they arent given a little time before being sold.

Holding your duckling now is fine just be careful not to push on the crop area nothing sweeter than agosling or duckling or both nuzzling under your chin. All of us have picked up one of ours and had water come out . We just be careful in how we pick them up. Enjoy those babies

The same thing happened with my four day old ducklings yesterday and I about had a panic attack!

Sounds like we both made the mistake of bumping the crop when handling, so glad it’s that and not something more serious.

I agree. It’s nice! I don’t know much but there are many here that do!!

I have a runt hatchling from the local hatchery. He was alot smaller than the others was sticky and still had shell stuck to him when i picked him up from the hatchery im assuming he had a hard or late to hatch type thing he has gotten stronger eats and drink and chirps but has water drip from his nose the other duck and goose do not have this, I cant help but worry? Is he ok?
