3 day old prolapsed vent

Our adorable chick has a horrible looking vent. there is a large pink protrusion where the vent should be.
-
the chick is pooping, peeing, eating and drinking but I feel worried because we have 2 other chicks (we ordered 6)
It is sad ...an angry pink wet looking protrusion coming out of the butt of a little adorable fluffball.

What do i do? Last night I applied Prep H to the protrusion and vaseline around the vent to keep poop from sticking. It doesn't look any better today. But chick is still acting normal.

I am worried about cannabalism, pain, suffering. Do I treat again? Wait ...how long? Cull?
I am kind of a wreck because if this one is going to die I kind of want to get it over with.

Is your chick struggling to poop-like it's constipated?

You are treating the prolapse like you should. Cannibalism/picking can be a concern-you can mix a little BluKote with your ointment or use a drop of blue food coloring to turn the ointment blue to help hide the redness.
