Crowing
Hello (again!) Everyone!
I'm genuinely stumped. 3 days ago my (almost) 2 year old black sexlink, Lady, wouldn't come off the nest. She's never been a broody girl and aside from staying tucked onto a nest she wasn't displaying the typical behavior- no poofy screeching pancake, no nest guarding and she started her morning like normal with the flock. I ended up booting her and she went on to drink water for literally 10 minutes and had a very watery/ yellow greasy poop. I put her up to roost (it was dark at this point) and killed the lights.
Yesterday she comes popping out like normal but quickly separates from the flock. She's pecking but not eating much and I notice very watery diarrhea again. I put out some electrolytes because I have to leave and make a point to find her later. Later that afternoon I find her totally alone, asleep under a patio chair. It's worming time anyway and her normally fluffy butt is soaked and she's not laid in two days now so I do an Epsom salt bath to clean her booty and check her vent just in case. It's the picture of health. Eyes clear, comb is bright red and erect and she's very responsive. I worm her (valbazen), syringe feed 2 ml of undiluted nutridrench and feed her some scrambled egg. She seems perky after bathtime, rejoins the flock and spends the rest of the day preening and grazing.
This morning comes around, she's out with her sisters but really only pecking at grass and has another greasy, watery diarrhea poop (pictured).
Here's what's recently changed-
-Some fall moulting in my 2nd year girls.
-Took down above ground pool for winter and they've been picking at the ton of sand we had poured in a May.
- Weather recently turned wet and damp after months of dry and dusty.
- the arrival of a ton of wild birds eating the fruit on various fall bloom trees.
- I noticed some intestinal slough so began corid yesterday.
Aside from a dip in appetite she's mostly normal. No wheezing, no mites or lice, grooming, walking and interacting with sisters as per usual.
Should I just give the dewormer a little more time? She's had this for going on 3 days now with little improvement and I'm super frustrated! Thank you for reading this far and any advice or experience is deeply appreciated!
