i have three drakes (two pekin, and a rouen mix) and i have two females. the males are a year old and the females are 5 weeks. i want to know if it’ll be fine to put the girls in the pond with the boys in a month. i let the boys stay in the pond area, it’s fenced in and has lots of grass and mud for them to play in, 24/7. in about a month the girls will be in there too. so, will mating season be over by then and will the boys leave the girls alone? either way i NEED to get the girls out in the pond by next month since they are getting so big. also i can’t get more females, and i’m not getting rid of my boys either since i’ve raised all my ducks since 1 day old and am very attached to them (i already rehomed one drake and may need to give another away, and it was hard enough so i am not getting rid of them anymore) so will they fight or hurt the girls?

They could but don't discount giving away your drakes to solve the problem either. NOBODY is pickier about who my ducks go to than I am and I found a wonderful woman who's pekin drake died in surgery and she needed a companion for her big beautiful pekin girl.

We met and she took my sweet boy home to his new wife and house and he's living the life of the privileged duck and he is so happy. She sends me pictures every day and I just love it! A skinny little chocolate runner with a big beautiful pekin girl! I didn't think he was little until I saw the pictures of them both. He was big in my flock! They are inseperable and in love. Maybe a wedding in the future.

i’m not worried about where they would go, i would make sure to find them great homes. the problem is i raised them all from days old and would not be able to give them away. is there anyway to make a 3 drake to 2 duck ratio work? they have a huge pond so obviously the girls will be able to get away.
