I was hoping I would be able to get some more EEs out of my current flock, but I don't have an EE Roo. I do have a Barnevelder Roo that was supposed to be a hen, but you know how that goes. Anyway, I collected 3 green/blue eggs from each hen and placed them in the incubator. Well today is hatch day and the first one that hatched looks exactly like a Barnevelder. I was wondering what are the chances that I will get some EEs out of this hatch? Two other eggs are starting to hatch so I will update this thread as they hatch.

EEs Eggs Hatched: 1
Look Like Barnevelders: 1
Look Like EE: 0

Total Eggs: 9

I know they won't be pure Barnevelders but would be interesting if they grow up to look like one but lay green eggs. I guess time will tell.

100% chance.
They're all Easter Eggers technically because they have blue egg genetics in them.

So they will look like a Barnevelder but lay blue/green eggs?
Some might lay brown. The thing about EE is there is no standard because they are essentially a mix of everything and anything with some blue egg genes tossed in somewhere.

Sounds good. Let's see what the other 8 look like as they hatch.

The “earlobe” color will tell you .

2 more hatched.

There are 2 more eggs that have pipped so hopefully by morning will have more chicks.

I have a barnyard mix of mainly P.O.L. Easter Egger crosses hatched under 5 broody hens last summer. Some could be from EE roo, some from EE hens. Most of my golden colored ones are laying very pale blue greenish, and the dark girls are laying cream or tan, although I think there's a black one laying pale green. There are muffs on about a fourth. The golden ones have beautiful patterns. One looks pheasantlike. Tweed and Jacket seem to look a little like my Wyandottes, but are mostly blackish. That's what makes EEs fun. No two look alike, so you can tell them apart to name them.

Well the last two hatched yesterday and both are light colored versus what the other 7 are.

I will post some pics tomorrow.
