3 Easter Egger Hens and 1 Barnevelder Roo

Well the last two hatched yesterday and both are light colored versus what the other 7 are.

EEs Eggs Hatched: 9
Look Like Barnevelders: 9
Look Like EE: 0
Total Eggs Left: 0
100% Hatch Rate

I will post some pics tomorrow.

I’m curious to see how these chicks ended up as I have a similar plan for mine...do you have any pics?

Here are the pics I took yesterday. It was 102 degrees yesterday and they were enjoying their evening bathing in cool soil.

They just turned 4 months on July 30th. They are my misfits.

Thanks so much for the pics! There’s some nice colouring! Mine would be first gen EE I guess b/c I have the Barnevelder roo over legbars and Ameraucana hens. They aren’t mature yet so will try hatching some in the spring and see how it goes. I’ve heard that the chicks might be a bit messy, but if I breed them back to the Barny the lacing would get better. We’ll see!

You are welcome. Unfortunately, the cockerels hormones are starting to kick in and are becoming a nuisance to the flock. I already have my large Barnevelder, an old english, and a bantam old english in the flock. There isn't room for another 4 males. So I will put them up on Craigslist for sale.

Your barred (multicolored) cockerel isn't a barnevelder cross. Unless one of your EE hens is also barred.

The only rooster I have is a Barnevelder and all hatched from green eggs. The hens that laid those eggs are below. Note the pics are when they were young not their current age.

So don't know how he came out barred.

Here's a pic of my Barnevelder/Easter Egger cross hen. I have 3 of them and will be turning 6 months.

Some nice colors. Now is the waiting game to see what color their eggs will be.

I've got a lot of EE mixes starting to lay now, from various breeds. The dark ones are laying tan to brown. The ones with blonde in the patterns are laying very light olive. A few bordering on very light barely blue. Nothing striking as far as color, although a lot of variety.
