Congrats SGM
Zipping, gina4animals, is when the chick in the egg uses its eggtooth to puncture the egg, usually around the circumference where it's head is & then that portion 'pops' off & they either crawl out/fall out/bust out from there. It can take quite some time for a complete zip, and some never do accomplish anything near as tidy as zipping off the cap of the egg; but they seem to hatch anyhow.
I checked on my 2 broodies last night & had one chick out and 1 zipping. This morning there was another zip and I just checked in to see another little wet chick in one of the nests. They're only sitting on 3 eggs each, so we'll see what hatches.
