Hi! I have 3 hens that went broody at the same time. I didn’t have the heart to tell 2 of them no. Now all 3 have 3 babies each

I’ve had no issues with the rest of the flock and the babies, but if the mamas come across another mama, they fight, really bad.

I have all 3 mamas separated right now with their babies, but it is not an ideal situation. They can’t all free range at the same time without my supervision, due to the fighting. And it’s getting hot out, so I’d like them all to be together.

Other than keeping them separated, I’m not sure what else I can do, or how long until they can all integrate together.

The chicks are all 2-3 weeks old. (Some hatched, some from feed store)

Any other suggestions?

Can you separate the chicks into their own area? Or do you prefer having the mamas raise them?

I’ve seen chicks stay close to hens for a couple months. I’ve had hens slide right back into the flock once the chicks were removed. And the chicks have always grown up with their own flock, and integrated well with my other flocks.

I think it’s what works best for you. There isn’t one right answer, but fighting hens will definitely affect the rest of the flock. Good luck!

I wanted to let the mamas raise them first time doing this, obviously. Everything is going great. I let them all free range together, with supervision. Then I slowly incorporated one mama to the coop at a time. They are all together now, no issues 😁
