I am new to this breed and not very experienced with chickens in general so far. I got two chicks straight run along with an assortment of others. They are very similar in size, shape, tail length, comb, and wattles but have different markings. One has clear gold feathers with black edging, while the other has black patterns in the gold part of the feathers. I’ve read that the clear gold is typical of pullets, while males are marked differently. So I’m confused, because apart from the feathers they are very similar, and with all my other chicks it is obvious what they are by now.

In these photos, the “clear” bird is standing and the “patterned” one is roosting.

here’s a picture showing the difference in pattern:

Is it possible I got two pullets, and one just has patterned feathers? What do you think?

Thanks.
