3 month old ducks mating?

My pekins and runners are mounting my rouen hen, and proceeding with what looks to me like successful mating.

Is this just them practing or should I start thinking about setting up nesting boxes or will they even use a box? If they are mating now should I start watchig for eggs?

By three months my boys are starting to " practise" Its pretty normal for them- but for the girls- it will be 6 - 10 weeks thereabouts before they are ready to lay eggs.

I agree, ducklings that socialize together will often "play" and explore mating at this age. But, they won't lay eggs until later.
