My 3 month old Barred rock rooster has a leg problem. He has been isolated from the rest of the crop. His right leg kind of hangs out in front .he can't move it at all. There is no swelling or any visible injuries.it looks just like the other foot, except his toes are in a loosly clinched fist. Today is day 6 without improvement. He is eating, drinking, and pooping normal, and it doesn't appear to be dislocated. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Troy in Washington.

Might be a vitamin deficiency. Go to any drug store and get liquid baby vitamins. The kind without iron. Give him 3 drops in the morning and 3 drops at night for at least 7 days. If there is no improvement after that get back on the forum or make an appointment with a vet. If you shop around for a vet sometimes they are not that expensive.

To give him the drops use the dropper to drop the liquid on top of his beak one drop at a time and let it roll into his mouth so he can swallow it. This way there is no chance of it getting into his lungs.

You can also get Poultry Nutri Drench and add it to his water per the mixing instructions and as long as you have it give it to the rest of your flock also.

Do not give vitamins or Nutri Drench for too long a time because they can build up in the chickens system and be toxic.

The baby vitamins you can get right away at the pharmacy, the Nutri Drench you might be able to find at your farm store or you might have to order it online.
