These are the hackle feathers, not the saddle feathers. The saddles are on their backs, near their tails.
That hackle feathers are rounded though, which means they are girls.

I have one BJG, and he is a cockerel. I just love him, he has a very nice temperament. He gets along very well in my mixed flock, and with my mutt EE roo. I hope your mom enjoys her pullets as much as I enjoy my George.
