I got these 3 chickens the other day to add to my flock, do you have any idea what they are (the previous owned did not know). Also, they are about 16 weeks, what are the chances that the red one is a roo? Thanks in advance for your thoughts!
They almost look to be parent stock of red sex links. (A red rooster over a silver hen.) The red bird is a production type red fowl, and the white birds are a leghorn blended production fowl.
The photo isn't quite "up close" enough to make a definitive judgement concerning the sex of the birds.
Thanks, I was thinking that the tail feathers and it's size (compared to the others) were a bit roo like. Guess I will just wait it out. Do you think that the white ladies could be Tetra Tints?
I see two soon-to-be layers and a red cockerel! And those are definitely rooster saddle feathers showing (the darker, pointy feathers just above the tail). The pictures I've seen of Tetras have a salmon tint develop in their chests and red ears while your girls appear to be staying white and it appears they have white ears. I'm thinking hatchery Leghorns.
