3 to 5 hen chicken coop as cheap as I can (Within reason)

I got a little more done. I still have some primer to do, locks to add, and white paint to put on these sides. The sheeting got put up around the cleaning access door today too. I am going to trim it all in but that will be while the birds are living in it. Might be livable in a couple of days.

I brought Mr. Blue out to check on progress. He approves.

Looking great so far! Ours is just a base so far lol, but it is the same shape and about the same size as yours. Very well done on the budgeting too!

Thanks. It took some effort. I was going to do pallets for the run but then we couldn't watch them. That will be a bit more of an expense but this is far less than the last coop I built. There are some wire fence panels for sale at 20 bucks on craigslist, but I might just want to design something a bit better. I have time. Chicks don't go in here for another week and won't be allowed out for 2 to 3 more. In the meantime, I will be testing out my incubator with Barred Rocks before putting the English Blue eggs in there.

That is a window. Instead of having to prop it up, I just unlock it and lay it down. Haven't trimmed it in or decided my locking system yet. Will try to get a shot of the other side up tomorrow. That is where the cleaning access door is.

Tossed the green on the door and added primer to the trim. Decided to set a latch up on the nesting box and put a lock on the chicken's door before continuing with the exterior. Mostly it is cosmetic stuff: add an awning over the chicken door, caulk exposed wood, paint the trim with white paint, trim the corners with 1x and touch up everything before moving to the run build. I also want to hold off on adding trim until it is moved. Every bit of wood adds weight and this thing isn't getting any lighter. Want to but the chicks in it during the warm weather tomorrow.

Secured the doors and widows, plugged in the lamp, and slapped a 2x2 roost in for them to jump on while I work one the outside. I did put their food and water in there two. This should be plenty big enough for them while I build another coop.

Had a neighbor help me move the coop to its fonal location. I still have to add trim, some locks, a some cosmetics before building the rum and chicken ladder. For some reason I am having difficulty uploading photos from my phone. Will use the laptop later and get one up.

Ventilation?
front and back on top as well as the widow which will be open most of the year. I believe I made 1'x 5"vent holes. Will have to verify. Will get some photos up.I still have to build the hardware cloth window insert for the window. Temps are not cold here so cooling and ventilation are more worrisome than keeping them warm.
