Popped in and read this, poor Jaffarra! You are considering it could be her gizzard though, a problem there, not just a crop issue? Not that she's eating bad things but that her gizzard isn't grinding up regular stuff well (after stopping the non-baby-food mush and back on regular feed).Thirsty Thursday

And Jaffarra’s crop was not empty this morning so she is stuck in the crate today, I feel she is eating stuff she shouldn’t. I hate to keep her cooped up (pun intended), but I do not want to do surgery on her again.

In the up side, Betty’s crop is down thankfully.
Now if I can get Eli sorted out.

Fluffy Butt Friday.
BFTP: Josephine on my desk. If you try and move her off she'd fly and wreck the room and get in a panic. The best thing to let her do is fly out the door instead.

Re sharing Cinnabun for this fluffy butt Friday

I went ahead and bought this brand and will try it out.
So how much does everyone think I should give?
![]()
I don't think it is something for which there is an approved dose. I don't remember what I gave - I read what they said for people and gave less!
That was what I was going to do.
Then I came home tonight and her crop was down! Sheesh!
The bottles recommend adult dosages. An adult is 160 lbs average & a hen is 6 lbs avg. 6 over 160 equals 1/10 so that should give a reasonable measure of 1/10 of an adult dose for a hen?! Dosages are very scarce for birds.
Example: It surprised us how small the dose of Tylosin powder in water was prescribed for our hens. 1/8 tsp in 2 cups water. Don't sneeze over an 1/8 tsp or it will disappear!
