He/she is also sneezing and breathing with its mouth open and taking big, heaving breaths. I'll try to link a video tomorrow if I can, and I'm sorry I haven't introduced myself yet, but I'm nervous... I'll keep a close eye on it and update, but any ideas? I'm brand new to this, and very nervous!

Isolate your chicken from the others very quickly.
2 diseases it could be are very contagious . Cronic respiratory disease teat with Terramycin the other disease is worse infectious coryza if chicken recovers it becomes a carrier of the disease which is even carried over to the egg and chicks. The disease recurrs in the chicken so its best to cull this bird. If you which to find medicine try farm coop tractor supply or web site randall Burkey Company they have lots of meds.

Hi and welcome. I would also isolate her, in case she has a contagious respiratory disease (there are a few possibilities). She could have a bacterial infection or a virus - only a culture or blood test can tell you which. If you hear rattling or mucus, you should consider treating her with an antibiotic. I recommend injectables especially if there are respiratory issues. Consult your vet, if you can. Add vitamins to her water (garlic and acv are also beneficial). I use VetRx to help with congestion (it's a natural oil with menthol). Let us know how she's doing. Best, Lynn

I live in the city-we have a Tractor Supply Co, do they sell injectibles? Also, I noticed last night she had almost like a twitch in her neck, it kept waking her. I don't see it now though. I heard her wheezing kind of badly last night, and when she sneezes it's mucusy sounding. She's also running sideways randomly and freaking herself out, she gets all flustered and runs in a tiny circle, flapping her wings. For food I'm giving them unmedicated chick starter (I have 2 Cochins and a Mallard duckling by the way) For treats I've been giving them blueberries, yogurt, and watermelon, I also gave them scrambled eggs yesterday morning. They didn't like the eggs so I took those out. I think I'm rambling now, thanks for your help.

basically the chick has too much wrong with it

it is possible respiratory disease and mareks

the fits and so forth denote nerve problems which mareks causes

it would be better just to cull the chick than to save it
if this chick is a cochin it is more subseptable to mareks than most

I raised cochins for decades and know the problems

It will take injectable lincomycin to do the trick for the infectious disease
don't even bother to buy or give any of the terramycin, duramycin kinds of drugs

then the birds will need the
wet mash probiotic's for weeks to get them going
if your treating her for mareks she will need the Vit E and Vit B complex daily for 2 weeks

email me for the recipes and
go to the top of your computor and copy the url which will be for this post and send me this post url

email me any questions

Thanks everyone for your help, unfortunately I could not find a vet soon enough and Clementine passed away. I brought the other chick back to the farm I bought them at and he offered to take it and trade me a duckling, and because I'm now paranoid about chickens, I am now the proud owner of 2 mallards! I feel awful, SO awful, but this sprung up so fast and I didn't have a vet yet, I was running in circles pulling my hair out trying to figure out what to do.
