We've only had larger numbers of ducklings (20+) before, and had room enough in the barn for a large brooder and heat lamp. Now we've moved the goats into the barn, and really aren't comfortable with a heat lamp out there any more because of all the straw/dust floating around.

We currently have just three ducklings in the bathroom and the smells, going up and down the stairs with the wet, dirty bedding every day at 37 weeks pregnant...it's killing me.

Would they be okay in a tight barn with temps in the 50s at night if we covered it with a blanket or towel? Or should I just resign myself to having them in the bathroom for a while longer?

How old are they, I don’t think you said? As long as it’s safe in the barn and there’s plenty of straw and bedding for them to cuddle up in it should be fine. I’d give them a couple stuffed animals or an old blanket or pillow to keep warm with too. Good luck :)
