3 week old duckling possibly ill

Wow. That is eye opening. So nutritional yeast I should be able to get at a healthfood store. Somewhere afield. Just the people version? Or...I think.i read to can give them B something from a pharmacy? We have a little pharmacy in town. I could org that when they open in just under 2 hours. I will look for that thread again but anyone reading this happens to know, please share. I could give more pea treats if you think that is enough to tip the scale?

My second duckling is perfectly fine. Am I in danger of overdosing her on niacin if I apply the niacin supplement to their shared feed and water?

Thank you so much for guiding me. I want to give them the best chance without overdoing 'help', if you know what I mean.

I got Nutritional yeast at the health food store. But if the duckling already has a deficiency, the nutritional yeast might not be able to correct it. I would probably get some vitamin b complex, and give it that. If you go to the duck section of the forum, there is a thread about niacin deficiency and what dosage to use. Tractor supply sells liquid vitamin b complex as an injectable for cattle, but for ducks you can give it orally and mix it in with some peas or treats. If you feed It mixed with a treat your other duckling won’t get it.

We don't have tractor supply in this country. I will check out the duck thread you mentioned. I do remember reading about crushing tablets from chemist somewhere
I think there are more options on the niacin deficiency thread if you can’t get the liquid vitamin complex. Do you have large feed stores that sell stuff for cattle? Maybe they have something equivalent.
What finally helped my duckling - besides the vitamin b - was moving him into a pasture where he could run around. After just 24 hours he was so much better, and a bit after that you would never guess he had a problem

I put mine in a larger enclosure outside today but its just a bit too cool to be out without feathers for very long. It's been raining everyday for days so took advantage of the sunshine. They always have wet heads after all and not a feather in sight! I got niacin from pharmacy and I know it's 500mg (not slow or altered release type..just ordinary) or 1 tablet to 4 to 8 gallons of water depending on spillage according to a pdf guide I found in the duck forum on here. Wish me luck! 😬 I read tuna in springwater w no added salt is really high in niacin and a favourite among ducks so....I got that too. How hard is it to find NO salt added!
