We recently got some chicks who are “Light sussexes crosses with bantams (not sure what kind of bantam!)” All of them look like light Sussex chick except this one. He is much smaller than the rest of the chicks, has very lightly feathered legs and a very bushy, fluffy sort of tail. I think the colour is called Mille fleur but not sure. I have been reading about pekins as they are bantams and seem have fluffy tails as well. He doesn’t have as much feet feathers as a pekin, tho that could be because he is a cross. However, I could be completely wrong about this, so any ideas?

Is Mille fleur a breed? I thought it was just a colour ( I’m no expert tho!). Also, I assume he is a rooster? I thought so because of his big comb... but he did get his tail feathers early 🤔

I think you are right, he is a pekin cross, and being of mixed parentage accounts for the sparse feathering on his legs.

If he was a cross between a light Sussex and a Mille Fleur D'Uccle he wouldn't have yellowish legs because both those breeds have white skin and therefore cannot produce chicks with yellow legs.

He does have pretty coloring, but since he is a mix, he will not be any pure color variety. That makes him unique.
