Hi All,

The leg joint (the knee?) on one of my 3-week-old chicks is bending the wrong way. I've tried splinting it and just plain wrapping it with vet wrap. But the joint always manages to bend the wrong way. Any advice? Thank you!

I'm sure someone will come along that knows a whole lot more about this than I do. But, this past summer I got some chicks, and one of them was that way. Not at first, but a few days after I got them I noticed that when she walked, the 'knee' joint would bend backwards. I as well put several small splints on her leg, I used vet-wrap. It took 3-4 tries, and then it still wasn't perfect. But the splints seemed to hinder her more than help so I removed the last one and left it off. I isolated her with one more chick(for company) and she actually healed and to this day she is perfectly fine. When I splinted it I just splinted it straight at first, then the last couple of splints I tried to splint it bent forward(correctly) just a tad. I had a splint of various types on her for about 2 weeks before I took them off and left them off.
