3 Week old guinea keat not doing well - off balanced.

I've tried massaging in the past and was holding them when they died. To avoid the situation all together is the best plan. Make sure you keep the waterers clean.

I'm absolutely positive there are lot of guinea flocks in Maryland, but mostly been selling to PA and WV since I have had keets.

Ahh, have to keep you in mind for future... I had a bad hatch, well temps dropped a few days before hatch date, lost my entire brood!!! bummer, really needed those guys cause I only had one RIR hatch of the 3 eggs I put in the bator. Had a friend pull through for me and got me a bunch of cuties out of PA. Not sure exactly what they are, possibly pied and royal purple. Looks like a little lavendar that I have, but that little one is not doing so well.

Impacted crop.... can you give oil to help like chicks? olive oil?

Hope so. Mine seems to be up and down, it definately, without a doubt seems to have an impacted crop. I've been massaging the little bugger and getting warm water in him, seems to be helping but he's just so lethargic and off balance as you said yours was.

Boy, will I ever wash out the waterer everyday now. I'm going to get an extra one at that.

My little guy is doing great. We use a long aquarium for our keats/chicks until they get too big for it and then we move them. We had him in the same aquarium just separated with a homemade separator that my dad made. It doesn't go all the way to the top of the aquarium so the healthy keats could fly over. They never stayed in his side long though. After about a day and a half of having him separated he flew over the separator. I let him stay with the rest of the brood and he is doing great.

He eats, drinks, sleeps, flaps his wings, does everything a normal keat does. No more spreading of his wings or falling over.

Aww, I'm sorry for your loss

I know what you mean by not knowing how to help, after my most recent 7 had hatched there was one more live keat in an egg, but he was stuck. My dad and I helped him out, and he was doing good except that he couldn't walk right. After his first night in the incubator I decided I might have to hold him to get him to learn how to sit right. So I held him all of Monday and reluctantly put him in the aquarium over night, Tuesday morning he was still alive so I held him again. Around 2 pm on Tuesday my mom and I put a splint on his toes because they weren't spreading out like they should. We left for Bible Study that night, came back, he was still alive, I held him and let him drink but he seemed to be dehydrating. In the morning he was gone. I was sad because he seemed to be such a fighter, and he would've given us 8 keats total, 4 pearl grey and 4 lavender. (He was a lavender)

I'll have to start a new post with pics of our keats. They got moved to their larger brooder a couple days ago and are loving it.
