Hi, our current group of 5 chicks are growing quickly, and are starting to show their colouration. The father of these is likely our old Leghorn Cockerel, and we know for a fact that two of them have a Leghorn mother, but the mothers of the other 3 are all mixes of various kinds, which complicates things slightly. While any guesses as to gender would be appreciated (we have our suspicions), any longshot guesses as to possible breed mixes for the other three would be greatly appreciated!

Chick 1 - Our little pale angel. She should be a pure leghorn, unless one of our less dominant roos managed to sneak past the alpha! Slightly worried that our she may indeed be a he, but I like to call them all she until we know for sure (trying not to jinx it!)

Chick 2 - Another possible Leghorn (same mother as first), and more yellow in colour, but we think this one is most definitely a hen (hopefully!)

Chick 3 - one of our mixes. I hope she's a hen, and it does seem that way for now (to us anyway!)

Chick 4 - Our little adventurer, and the smallest of the bunch. Another mix, but the only one from this particular mother (a little fluffy one, possibly with Silkie heritage). We think (hope) that this is another hen.

Chick 5 - And finally, we have our little oddball. Another mix (same mother as 3), they were the largest at hatch, but for some reason has been exceedingly slow to feather compared to the others (has only just started to form a little tail in the last 3-4 days!) We're pretty sure this one's a Cockerel, as the sister of their mother has hatched out Cockerels with similar colouration in the past.

Well, that's our motley crew! Any guesses or speculation would be greatly appreciated! As always, thanks again to this great community for always being so friendly and helpful! Your advice has helped these chicks grow to be the beauties they are :D

Whilst I don’t see any obvious cockerels at the moment, they are really too young to sex. I would post back when they’re 6+ weeks old.

3 weeks is still very young to have genders pinned down. 8 weeks will give you the best idea. With that being said 1&5 look to have the most comb development so I would say cockerels. I hope the other 3 turn out to be hens.

Ah, I thought it may be a bit too early. Ah well, it was a nice excuse to take photos of them all! (though I wish i'd waited until after i'd cleaned out their pen)
