3 weeks old-is grit needed?

Hello, I also couldn't find small chick grit, so I searched the web.....found out you can give little chicks - parakeet gravel/grit. I bought some at Walmart and mix it with their chick starter feed. Just a few sprinkles. My 3 wk old's love blueberries.

I agree with the other posts. I buy chick grit at TSC. I give the grit in dishes as free choice to all of my birds.

My chicks are also 3 weeks old.. I was told at our local feed mill by one of the employees that chick grit is in the chick starter I bought...

I trusted the employee but now I'm starting to wonder if I should go grab some sand from out back or something. My 9 silkie chicks and 1 unknown chick seem to be thriving. But am I taking a chance?

I let them free range outside today in the chicken coop we built and they seemed to like to eat the sand. Maybe I should go get some for them...

Would grit really be in the food?
