I had 10 keets with the parents in my chicken coop. (No chickens. )The keets are dying for some reason. I have 5 left. I just find them dead inside pen, no blood or marks. Let them out to graze in yard for 15 or 30 minutes then herd them back in. Got water and feeding chick scratch and game bird granules. Any ideal why they are dying. They get around alright following parents then next day a dead one. Any advice?

It is possible that they may be suffering from coccidiosis which can be treated with Corid.

Keets should never be given chicken scratch. They cannot digest it without having grit in their systems plus it is a low protein, high fat food source. Yours should be finding grit outside but it is hard to know for sure. They can also have issues with eating their bedding which if there is not grit in their systems they can get plugged up and die.

What should i be feeding keets. I have gamebird feed. Is that ok?
It depends on what your game bird feed is.

Newly hatched keets should be on a high protein turkey or gamebird starter for the first 6 to 8 weeks. That should be followed by 6 weeks of turkey or gamebird grower. After that a 20% protein all flock (aka flock raiser) along with free choice oyster shell works well.

I just put 6 newly hatched keets in my brooder. They are getting a 28% protein turkey or gamebird starter whhich has the higher concentrations of lysine, methionine and niacin that they need for proper development.

Good luck.

I checked my feed. Its a antibiotic free supplement. It was the only Gamebird feed there so I ASSUMED it was the one. Should i get something else?

Can i give them chicken laying mash?[/QUOTE,]
No, not the right formula. Layer is high in calcium and geared for hen chickens who are laying eggs.
Stick to game bird starter, its what they need to thrive.
It would be best if they ate that and nothing else for the first couple month at least. The scratch feed and cracked corn will not be good for them nutriionaly.
I hope you dont loose any more.
