Hello- my little girl who had wry neck already and a rupture air sac(that I “popped”) in her short life and impacted crop now I believe has sour crop! She has a huge balloon in her crop (center of chest, don’t think it’s an air sac) and is vomiting often. She’s clearly starving but can’t hold anything down.. have her on mikonazole ... and a little avc in her water... she has a tiny bit of yogurt in her box, but that’s it...
Her chest is huge- tender to touch...

She’s already very small, not sure she’ll make it without food much longer

any suggestions?

should I up the anti fungal or put her on a stronger one?

ugh, cull? She’s had a very tough short life

Welcome To BYC

Can you post some photos of your chick?

Does she still have Wry Neck?

Is she able to poop at all?
I would not up the Miconazole if you are giving that to her already. Give it twice a day.

How long has she not been able to eat?

Remove feed immediately so she’s not peking at it and putting more feed into her crop. What’s happened is there is a yeast infection in her crop and giver her feed is just fueling the infection. An easy way to “starve the infection without starving your chick” is to give her yogurt. If she won’t eat it, stir tiny bits of feed into it. Yogurt will kill the yeast infection. Another thing you can do is put garlic in her water. Garlic is just great all around for chickens and some in her water is just a great way to keep her healthy during this difficult time. I’ll pin a video to this going step by step how to cure sour crop.

I know lol After my chick got sour crop I got so so so worried. I wanted to see what yall thought about it so I posted about it even though she was better. This was my first time experiencing sour crop and I wanted to see what has worked best for you guys. Like I said in my post, there are so many different opinions on sour crop that I just wanted a neighborhood opinion that I trusted.
