Hiya chicken friends!

I recently adopted this pretty girl from my Aunt and Uncle. Their large flock has been shrinking over the years, and last week their other hen disappeared, leaving Golden Waffles by herself. I decided to adopt her so she wouldn't be alone. She's currently in quarantine but I know she'll be happy to have a flock again soon.

According to my Aunt, she's a sexlink hen. I've looked at some photos online and I'm wondering if she's a Golden Comet. Any thoughts?

She is about 3 years old, weighs just under 4 pounds, lays HUGE light brown eggs, has a large comb and tan legs, and is very friendly. She currently has a case of scaly leg mites, so excuse the appearance of her legs.

Can anyone confirm if she's a Golden Comet? Any other breed ideas?

Thanks!

I have the same chicken as you. It is a Red Sex link. These chickens can go under a few names. Mine also lays jumbo eggs. My RIR which is a hatchery grade one is very close to the RSL lays only large eggs.
For the leg mites you can spread some butter/margarine/Crisco on the legs. It suffocates the mites. Vaseline can also be used , but I prefer something eatable, rather than petroleum. Dust bath with some DE also good.
WISHING YOU BEST.

Sex link is a generic term. Different hatcheries sell them under different names, for each hatchery's proprietary cross. Red Star, Golden Comet, Cinnamon Queen, ISA brown, etc. I can tell you she's a red sex link, but exactly which cross, you won't really know unless you know what hatchery she came from. Doesn't make a ton of difference either way, she's a nice red/brown hen who lays a ton of eggs
