Hi! I live in TX and have been raising chickens for about 3 years. One of my original Leghorn hens isn't feeling too good so I'm hoping that I can get some insight from the Community.

She's beyond lethargic - not moving at all unless forced to do so. Her comb is completely flopped over and the ends are dark red. I suspected vent blockage because her rump was quite covered in poo so I gave her a nice warm soak which is when I discovered that her hind end is almost bare of feathers. There are no roosters in the group - just 3 other hens that aren't exhibiting any symptoms. I quarantined her yesterday when the symptoms were noted and have been giving her plain yogurt and electrolytes but no improvement yet. Any ideas?

Poopy butt can be a sign of worms ...have you ever wormed your flock? Getting her hydrated while you try to figure out what's wrong with her is very important. Would you be willing to tube some electrolyte water into her.

Hi! No, I haven't wormed my ladies. She is drinking if I put her beak in fluid - same with Tami g the yogurt. I'm going to run in to the local farm supply and see about wormer and antibiotics.
