You could try crop feeding her, and KayTee Exact feed is used with a feeding tube. Crop tube sets are sold on Amazon. You can make a temporary one for fluids and thin foods with aquarium air tubing. Here is some info and a video:

Are you still administering the milk thistle three times per day?

Maybe bring in a friend for company, sitting a second cage alongside hers. Chickens don't do well on their own and can get depressed being all alone.

what if i added the second chicken to her cage? i don’t have another cage for me to use at the moment. and i have not used the milk thistle capsules since the first day.. i will start using that now. i am adding the seeds into her feed though

Help!! My 1.5 year old hen seems to have yellowing of the face and her comb and wattles as well. Has gotten worse the last 2/3 days. Still eating and drinking (from what I can see), but she does seem a bit lethargic (nothing crazy).. She had a really bad molt in September/November and has finally grown feathers back but has yet to lay an egg. Her feet are ice cold, could this be a reaction to the cold weather? It has been in the teens at some days.. Could she be anemic? if so how do I help her??? Checked for mites and she seems clean, same with the rest of the flock. Here are some pictures

this is her now, I have her in the “hospital” isolated from rest of the flock. she has food, greek yogurt and i gave her some nutri-drench for vitamins. could she be vitamin deficient?? wondering if that is what is causing her anemia.. has heater pointing at her as well!

Can you immediately give her 1/4 tsp of Alpha on a spoon of yogurt? It saved my hens life! I just went thru what you are dealing with. Its a liver problem.


The Alpha doesn't have to be this brand. What ever you can get the fastest! My hen recovered within a week of giving her this!

They do get a mixture of mealworms, oats, corn and black sunflower seeds as well.

This will cause lots of liver issues.

what if i added the second chicken to her cage?

Adding the second chicken to her cage might be too stressful, but you could take one of the cuddlier chickens into your arms and sit with it by her cage for a while so she will be able to at least see and interact vocally with it.

Can you immediately give her 1/4 tsp of Alpha on a spoon of yogurt? It saved my hens life! I just went thru what you are dealing with. Its a liver problem.


The Alpha doesn't have to be this brand. What ever you can get the fastest! My hen recovered within a week of giving her this!

It will be 1/4 tsp on a spoon of yogurt
(Open the capsule and pour the powder into a bowl then take 1/4 tsp ).

Once a day for a week.

I get a little yogurt on spoon and mix the 1/4tsp of Alpha in.

Do you have store close by you can get some so she has some today?

I ordered mine from Piping Rock. You can always get some from your local store. It doesn't have to be the same brand as mine.
