Yellowing Face and comb

She does look a bit yellowish. That sometimes may be a signal of liver problems. I agree that I would stop extras, and feed a balanced layer or flock raiser feed, perhaps with a small treat of cooked egg occasionally. Feeding a large amount of carbs could lead to fatty liver disease. Hens who have stopped laying due to molt and then take a break during winter shorter days, may become pale and the comb can become shrunken. Can you get any pictures of her droppings? Are her urates white (the white cap on the dropping?) Or are they yellowish? Does she have any swelling or enlargement of her lower belly under her vent?

and how many mg for my hen?a
That depends on how concentrated the capsules will be. The ones I use contain 86.5 mg of silymarin. As chickens have a fast metabolism I would administer three times per day plus a teaspoon of dried seeds. Just open the capsules and mix the content with her feed, same with the seeds.
Don't forget to mix in some rough sand or granite grit to help with the digestion

did you ever use them for your hens? did it work?
It worked like a charm when one year my youngster chicken bunch decided to go crazy on creeping buttercup.
They were lethargic, extremely yellow and drowsy and I thought they would just die before I could get the medication into them.

But the same night after just a few hours they were better already and after three days they acted completely normal again. Not one of them died or showed any ill effects later on.

Thank you!!! Should I mix it with the pellets? what if she does not eat it, is there a way to give Orally?
Will she eat wetted feed i.e. mixing her pellets with a bit of greek yoghurt? If she likes it, spread the contents of the capsule on top of the prepared feed or mix it in.
In case she only eats dry feed, you can feed her the capsule by sitting her on your lap, her head facing forward. With one hand pull down on her wattles and she will open her beak. Instantly slip the entire capsule in with your other hand and let go of her wattles so she can swallow. Voilà!

You should see her getting better soon.

update — I’m the crazy chicken lady and brought her to the vet because she is NOT her normal self.. rbc range is supposed to be at 28 and she’s at 12, meaning she’s sooo anemic! they gave me calcium gluconate 23%, and melocican 5mg/ml. suggested that i syringe feed her atleast water intake.. asked if this could be mareks and i stated that she was a extra chick in the flock (rest of them were vaccinated against it) so she may not be vaccinated against it but I do believe that she is. reaching out to the hatchery now. Vet also recommended some greek yogurt, and scrambled eggs to help her eat.
Should I still continue the milk thistle ?

What are you’re thoughts?

this is her now, I have her in the “hospital” isolated from rest of the flock. she has food, greek yogurt and i gave her some nutri-drench for vitamins. could she be vitamin deficient?? wondering if that is what is causing her anemia.. has heater pointing at her as well!

how do you think she looks? she’s eating less today then she was 2 days ago.. crop seems empty, granted it is only 7am.. Thinking of attempting to syringe feed her for a little bit if I get back later and her crop is still empty.. any recommendations?
