30% bigger chick =rooster?

Sorry, no pictures of my very cute babies. I have 2 EE, 1 orphington, 2 gold wyandottes & 1 leghorn. The leghorn is 3 weeks old, everyone else is just over 2.

My friendliest chick is one of the auracanas- she is now about 30% bigger than the other auracana, and also bigger than the rest of the gang except the leghorn.


Does this mean that Penguin, our lap chicken, is a rooster?

I live in a small and densly populated town, where more than one neighbor will ask about my 1 yr old's health if he's been crying the previous night, so keeping a rooster isn't an option.

No, that doesn't automatically mean it's a rooster. Out of my 8 week olds, I have several large pullets and several small roosters. Are they developing combs yet? A good way to tell if it is a rooster is if the comb begins to develop and stays a bright red/orange color.
