Been awhile since I logged on to BYC. Thought this testimony would be of interest. I have a mixed flock of 23 pullets almost a year old now. I have 4 breeds, being Barred Rock, Golden Comet, Black Austrolorpe, and Rhode Island Red.

All winter long and ever since they started laying last summer, I have had steady production. All winter long they produced 16-20 eggs daily week in and week out with no artificial lighting to extend daylight hours. By this spring with the longer days it had gone to 17 to 23 eggs a day.

Yesterday, I got 18 eggs. Anyone ever seen or heard of this before?

I am not complaining!

Sounds like the ones that "didn't lay" 3 days ago, layed right after you gathered .. and then layed again before you gathered the next day .. It still all rounds to proper amount of eggs.. about 20 per 24 hours out of 23 pullets.

Good girls!
