So glad they were able to take care of the 99% blockage with the angiogram, and can handle the modest plaque buildups with meds. That is great news! And 1% away from a complete blockage? Whooo wee!!! Now that is cutting it close!!!!

Glad you are feeling better!

I only saw this today, so I sure hope you're feeling better. I'm sure you'll be tired for awhile, so please take it easy--if you can.

I'm an RN, so when I saw the following I was quite irritated:

On the 6th I woke up at 5 am with pain in between my shoulder blades in the middle of my back. By 9 am my mom took me to a walk in--he told me I'm too young to have heart problems and sent me home with a muscle relaxer, said I was having a muscle spasm.

For years, and I mean at least 10 years when I started working in ICU, research shows that women have classically different symptoms than men. And what you described was CLASSIC for women! I can't believe they sent you home with that $^&*% diagnosis!!! I know you said it was a walk-in and not an ER, but still...grumble, grumble

Thanks for posting for us, and I hope others take notice of your signs and symptoms--the extreme chest pressure/arm numbness appears to be felt mostly by men while women often times have more vague but still very uncomfortable feelings, like yourself.

take care of yourself!!

Maple my love!!!!

Wow G.

And the stress didn't help at all.

Glad you are one of the miracles out there and that you are not on the dirt side of the grass.

Happy Easter to you all.

I'm off to Grandma's for dinner soon as she gets her to pick us up.

and you got that right Mahonri...the stress didn't help at all....my dr.'s agree to that.

and though I don't know God's plan...I hold on to His promise in faith.

I've heard some very old-school doctors who still honestly believe that estrogen is +20 Magic Heart Health, that women don't get heart attacks. As far as I know, the last time medical schools taught that foolishness was in the 1980s--you're absolutely right, since then research showed that women were still having just as many heart attacks as men, but presenting with different symptoms (back pain instead of chest pain) that caused women to be misdiagnosed most of the time! But there are sadly many docs who don't pay attention to their Continuing Medical Education requirements...

Maple, please take it easy! I know it's rough when you lose the genetic lottery on this one, because the changes you have to make to get results are so drastic. But it really does help. Lots of green veggies, substitute smoked salmon for bacon (I know, not the same,

), take up yoga or some sort of relaxing exercise. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
