Greetings;
My first time broody hen has been sitting on 5 eggs faithfully for about 36 days. I'm wondering if I should remove them. She is as devoted as ever.

There was a thread I posted describing how I had to move her nest to the coop from the neighbors yard so there was a lot of moving around. Wonder if I inadvertently killed them. Or they may not be fertile as I never saw her mating.

Any ideas?

Candle the eggs to check for signs of development. If no signs of growing embryos, remove the eggs. You may have to remove or block off her nest to get her over being broody.

Thanks. I'll probably try the water test since I haven't had much luck with home made candling.
