It will have been 37 hours since external pip until I get home from work. My neighbour has sent me a pic of my duck egg and it’s made no progress since this morning.
mid I get home and not much more has happened, when should I intervene?

So I flicked the bit of shell off that was covering the ducks head and a lot came off. I wet the membrane and put him back in as I saw blood vessels. He’s making chewing motions so I will leave him be but does his membrane look too dry now? I’m worried I’ve messed up now 😭

This is him now

Just make sure the humidity stays up (over 60) Add wet sponges, paper towels or anything that adds wet surface. If possible keep the incubator closed for the humidity to stay in. If it is yawning it is not ready to hatch.
This is so stressful. He’s been like that for almost 4 hours. He’s stopped the yawning and chewing. At what point should I intervene if there’s no progress. Gonna be a loooong night I feel

I just noticed that you wet the membrane. Water dries the membrane. If you need to moisten a membrane use vegetable type oil. I think he is fine. Let him rest. Hopefully you will have a duckling soon.

I’m sure he is shrink wrapped. He’s so big. He should have been out yesterday. I really don’t know when I should help. He pushes every now and again but gets no where

This is him now. It looks like he keeps trying to push out. But is still making chewing motions. I really don’t know what to do for the best. I don’t want to lose him.
